Since 2012, we have jointly organized several topical seminars on building management with like-minded associations
and have brought highly experienced and eminent players in the industry from both the public and private sectors eg. industry regulators and practitioners etc, to educate all stakeholders with a view of upgrading the standard and professionalism in the building management industry.
Our seminars essentially provide a platform for regulatory updates, info-sharing and skills enhancement so that the building management profession will be enhanced and past seminars include the following:
17 January 2025, Building Management Series 3 – Rejuvenating Building Management
In our continuing series on building management, BMAM held the seminar with the theme Rejuvenating Building Management. Speakers shared valuable insights on various aspects in building management including the wish list for regulatory improvements to the Strata Management Act 2013 Act 757 (SMA 2013) as well as retrofitting old buildings and in the big picture, included urban renewal. Participants found the seminar informative and useful for their work.

25 June2024: Building Management Series 2 – Sustainability and Practical Challenges
Over the years, managing buildings has never been easy, and there are numerous pitfalls and challenges on a daily basis. On top of this, it is preferable that building owners and management nowadays subscribe to sustainability goals and going green, and need to balance rising operational costs and recouping income from common areas like car parks etc. Our seminar explores all these and more as the learned speakers present actual case studies for participants to gain insights.

15 December 2023: Building Management – The Only Constant is Change
There have been numerous developments impacting on building management – from going green and sustainable to solving management and maintenance problems on a daily basis, especially for older strata buildings. Within this scenario, the seminar’s well-experienced speakers shared presentations on the Strata Management Act (SMA), green buildings, sustainable cities, as well as operational safety in shopping malls and also fire safety in the context of Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Seminar speakers delved into many topical issues including Maintenance Charges in Mixed-Use Strata Developments, the planning and managing of Mixed Strata Buildings and the Dilemma of single rates or multi rates.

14 January 2016: Strata Management – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The seminar took a close look at the impact of the recent implementation of the STRATA MANAGEMENT ACT (SMA) 2013 and the Strata Management (Maintenance and Management) Regulations (SMR) 2015. With the Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government gracing the event, participants explored implications of regulations in the management of stratified properties.

14 May 2014: Resource Efficiency – Owner’s Dream or Nightmare?
The costs of operating and maintaining buildings keep on increasing – electricity, water, servicing, manpower etc. – and it has become imperative to manage resources efficiently. The seminar focused on how to best make use existing resources and to create opportunities to reduce costs – from efficient building designs to modern technology; from recycling to reutilizing; from harvesting leftover waste to cultivating greenery. Speakers comprised of prominent and experienced practitioners who shared priceless know-how on safety and security, proficient building designs and even invaluable human resources.
